The Haworth Press Publishes Book Promoting Pederasty
September 19, 2005 -
Same-Sex Desire and Love in Greco-Roman Antiquity and in the Classical Tradition
of the West is one of the newest books published by Haworth Press. WorldNetDaily
details this latest effort to normalize adult/child sex: New book promotes sex
with children.
Same-Sex Desire includes numerous essays by assorted scholars who believe that
pederasty can have a positive impact on young boys. Among those essays is
"Pederasty: An Integration of Cross-Cultural, Cross-Species, and Empirical
Data," by Bruce Rind, Ph.D.
According to Rind, adult/child sex "can benefit the adolescent when practiced
according to the ancient Greek form .... The human data suggest that pederasty
came to serve a mentoring function [in Greece]."
Rind is well-known for his 1998 study that purported to prove that adult/child
sex is not always harmful to children. The American Psychological Association
published his study in 1998 ("A Meta-analytic Examination of Assumed Properties
of Child Sexual Abuse Using College Samples," Psychological Bulletin, 1998,
July, Vol. 124 (1), 22-53.)
NARTH was the first professional organization to expose Rind's study to public
scrutiny. Based on NARTH's information, Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Focus on the
Family helped further expose the American Psychological Association's negative
role in helping normalize adult/child sex. After much public pressure and
condemnation in Congress, the APA issued a "clarification" and said it rejected
the normalization of pedophilia.
Other essays in Same-Sex Desire include "Reconsiderations of Greek
Homosexualities," by William Armstrong Percy, Ph.D. Percy writes: "... the Greek
world incorporated pederasty into their educational systems. Pederasty became a
way to lead a boy into manhood and full participation in the polis, which meant
not just participation in politics but primarily the ability to benefit the city
in a wide range of potential ways."
